Train the Trainer (Teacher Training Workshop by OBA.)
A "Train the Trainer" workshop titled "Energizing and Empowering you by awakening your vast inborn talent" was conducted for the teachers of STCB in Bandarawela on the 27th of February. This was organized by the STCB OBA and the resource personal was Dr. Asoka Jinadasa a most sougt out Corporate Trainer.
At the 2016 G.C.E. A/L examinations a student of STCB, Ravindu Bamunage, achieved 3 'A' s and has been placed first in the Badulla District. In recognition of this achievement, the OBA awarded him with a trophy on the 20th of January 2016 during the founders day celebrations. The award was presented to Ravindu at the general assembly by Mr. Dhakshitha Serasundera on behalf of the OBA.
A two day training and Workshop of Stagecraft and Performance was held by Miss Angela Seneviratne, former student of the College, now a member of the Executive Committee of the OBA, who is a Cinema, Television Theatre Artiste, Presenter and Columnist by profession, for the students of the Senior English Literary Society, and the students of the Junior and Primary Sections in their chosen Dramas in preparation for performance on English Day 2016, the 30th of January 2016.
The 21st of January 2016 – A full days training was held for the benefit of the Seniors with their teachers, elaborating on the areas of understanding the chosen characters, Blocking.Movement, Expression, Dialogue delivery, Diction, body language, Timing and Stage presence
22nd January 2016 - The day was divided among the Seniors, Juniors and Primary students along with their Teachers to fine tune their productions.
Choristers of all sections and their Teachers were also guided in the musical items being presented.
A final run through of all performances will be held in College on the 29th of January 2016.
A Leadership Workshop was conducted by Old Boy, Past Prefect and Director of Deusche Bank, Sri Lanka.who is also a member of the current Executive Committee, Mr .Dakshitha Serasundera for the benefit of fourteen Senior Prefects of the College, on the 20th of January 2016 at the Keble Memorial Hall.
Speaking on the important aspects and qualities that should empower a leader, Mr. Serasundera involved the prefects in exercises that recognize self evaluation, Communication and also Team Work. Encouraging the Prefects to express their views of what leadership is, with examples of exemplary persons who have made history, being decision makers, it was also stressed that these people were sometimes failures.
The Prefects found the few hours spent at the Workshop an open platform where they could share issues that necessitate resolution, which were very encouraging to others.
Head Master Rev, Christopher Balraj, while expressing his profound appreciation of Mr Serasundera’s dedication to S. Thomas’ College, also stressed the continued need of widening one’s perspective of the world outside of College life by attending such Workshops under the Career Guidance plan of the College, ably supported by the OBA
Mr Dinesh Wijekannan of the Bandarawela Sub Committee spoke to the boys, motivating them in enhancing their knowledge beyond the curriculum.
